Striking design, new fuel-efficient engines and the most modern technology mark the eighth generation of the global bestseller, the Passat. The most successful European business car debuts with less weight and new assistance, infotainment and comfort systems, blurring the lines between the classes. The following technologies are new to the model: the Active Info Display (a completely digital instrument cluster) and the retractable Head-up Display and Front Assist plus city braking function with pedestrian recognition. Volkswagen is also presenting three world premieres: Emergency Assist (braking in emergencies), Trailer Assist (assisted manoeuvring with trailers) and the Traffic Assistant.

The best of asphalt and offroading combined, refined and connected. The new Touareg shines with new front and rear design, fresh colours and rims. All V6 TDI versions are equipped with multi-collision brakes, bi-Xenon headlights and coasting function. In phases where acceleration is not needed, the engine is automatically disengaged from the 8-speed automatic transmission to tap the kinetic energy and further reduce consumption. Depending on the region, the Touareg is available as a turbo diesel (V6 and V8 TDI), turbo petrol version (V6 TSI) and as a hybrid (V6 TSI and electric motor). In Europe it will feature the Google Earth™ mapping service, Google Street View™ and online traffic information

Volkswagen celebrated the world premiere of the US version of the Jetta at the New York international Auto Show. The car will come to Europe in the autumn with a few adjustments. The interior is refined and comfortable, the exterior sporty and striking. With assistance systems like Blind Spot Detection, Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist with collision warning and bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering light, America’s favourite model provides even more security than before. The TDI Clean Diesel is powered by a 110-kW (150-hp) engine.

Golf Edition: a league of its own

The first Golf hit the market in May 1974. Some 30 million units later, Volkswagen is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the Golf Edition. Soon available for order, it offers technological highlights such as the Premium multi-function display and the Composition Media radio system. On the outside it dazzles with the Light Brown Metallic special paint and a profusion of assistance systems such as automatic cruise control (ACC), the ParkPilot and the blind-spot sensor.
